25/10/2023: The food at Mr. Lao’s is exceptional. I’m very glad this was not my first time there. The first time the food was amazing and the waitress was kind and friendly and a real joy to deal with. Unfortunately tonight the waiter was terrible and totally annoying. He kept trying to read the menu to us and I just wanted him to go away and let us read it ourselves. We ordered crab Rangoon and spring rolls to start and reviewed the menu a while longer to decide on the entree. When he took our order we were very explicit about what we wanted. In a little while our spring rolls came out but he took them to the wrong table. They refused them and he realized they were for us. We had to ask for plates which he brought. I asked for soy sauce and he told me they already came with sauce so I said again that I needed soy sauce which he finally brought. I asked about the crab Rangoon and he said the kitchen screwed up and we would have them soon. Since he had already given them to the wrong table we never got crab Rangoon. When our entree came we had to ask for silverware. He told us he had told the busboy who was run ragged to put them out. Somehow I doubt that. Again, I must say that the food is excellent but this waiter is definitely not an asset. In the future I will check to see who is waiting tables before deciding to stay.
