Isha Playa Kabbalah, México

Santa María Colotepec
10/02/2024: Best drinks made by the most amazing bar tender, we left out place one night looking for ice cream but after not finding any somehow ended up drinking at this little bar. I really wanted a whisky sour and my husband and I hoped that being a more fancy looking bar I might find one. When I asked the bar tender said that he unfortunately didn't have any eggs so he wasn't able to make it. I was fine with that and was going to order something else when he told me to wait a minute, he ran to the little restaurant next door and got 2 eggs from them. He then proceeded to make the best whisky sour I have ever had. The fact that he went out of his way to get eggs just to make a drink I really wanted was so appreciated. We sat at the bar for a few hours running up a pretty high tab but so worth it, I definitely suggest going to Isha for a late night drink as you will not be disappointed.

El Pata Restaurant

Santa María Huatulco
24/03/2024: Our lunch at this restaurant turned into a deeply regrettable experience, earning a one-star review due to deceptive pricing practices and disappointing food quality. The allure of seemingly reasonable seafood prices quickly evaporated under the heat of unexpected and unjustified charges. The menu, exclusively in Spanish, featured mojarra (tilapia) and hiachinango (red snapper) at $190 Mex ($13 US) each. We carefully confirmed with the server, who consulted the manager, our choice of red snapper for our meals. Unfortunately, the garlic red snapper and red snapper Veracruz we received were dry and bony, hardly meeting our expectations for even a moderately priced dish. The real shock came with the bill. Not only were the prices of our dishes unexpectedly doubled to $26 each, but an additional fish dish was inexplicably tacked onto our bill without reason. This dramatic price increase, purportedly due to the note on the menu "según tamaño" (according to size), was neither clearly explained nor justified at the time of ordering. After we contested the bill, particularly the charge for the third, unordered fish dish, the restaurant removed that specific charge. Yet, the inflated price for the two dishes we did consume was not corrected. Ending up with an $80 bill for a lunch for two in Mexico, at an establishment of average quality, is not just shocking—it's absurd. This lunchtime ordeal serves as a cautionary tale about hidden costs and the importance of demanding full clarity on pricing before ordering. The stark lack of transparency and communication from the restaurant staff about such significant price adjustments made us feel not only exploited but also deeply disappointed. Patrons should be wary of establishments where the price of a meal can so dramatically exceed reasonable expectations for the setting and quality provided.

Restaurante La Entrega, México

Santa María Huatulco
12/01/2024: La Entrega Restaurant had a good view and service, but the prices were expensive. I ordered a Coke (35 pesos) and the Fish Tacos (170 pesos). The Coke was cold and the fish tacos were hot and crispy, not what I was expecting. The fish was not pieces or chucks of fish, but ground up like pate, and it could have been any part of the fish. Perhaps it was my misunderstanding of what fish tacos would come out as, regardless, it was the worst tasting fish tacos during my two weeks along the Oaxaca coast.

Almazul, México

San Pedro Mixtepec
14/02/2024: Thus far, this is my favourite Rinconada area restaurant. It is located in a beautiful serene garden setting just back from the main road. Thankfully the loud music of many other Rinconada unique and delicious drinks, and superbly prepared fish. Not to be missed!
