28/03/2024: 9/2/24 Friday lunch drink We three middle aged guys were wandering along the seafront wanting a quick beer with a bay view before heading inland for lunch. We did not find much at all except for this smart bright modern establishment which was surprisingly empty at 14:25 but we were thirsty. The friendly waiter offered us a table inside but we were happy to sit outside alone in the relative quiet listening to the sea (although it is a bit smelly as I think they have a discharge problem offshore). The seas itself was quite murky and not nice. The waiter offered us the drinks menu and the food menu which we declined as we were eating elsewhere later. He sermed a bit disappointed. We ordered a Negra modelo ballena (1l at 69) between us including two micheladas preparations (at 18 each). The waiter was happy with that we had more than just the beer. By 14:34 the chilled glasses arrived, two with spicy rims and a sauce at the bottom. The chilled beer was tasty as usual and the spices worked well with the dark beer. We chatted with the bored waiter (not many other customers were there) and we asked about the carnival. He said they did not see much extra custom from it as it was the other end of the parade. We paid the 105 printed bill and left happy at about 15:15 to walk the mile to Cynthia's restaurant directly uphill inland which we had passed on our way from the coach station to our Urban 101 hotel. The carnival in the evening ended up at the very busy fayre/festival/live performers on the big stage at the bayside by the government buildings. We walked to Winners to find it was fairly busy but had competition from neighbours who had opened up in the evening.

20/03/2024: We had a blast while in Mahahual! The hotel Restaurant which happens to be named El Muelle, was absolutely outstanding! We were 4 days in Mahahual and got the chance to eat in different places, but the Restaurant at the Aqua Star Hotel was really good, you don't need to be a guest like I was to eat at this restaurant, you just arrive from the malecon strip and sit down and you'll be greated by Andrés the bartender, Ricardo AKA Richie the manager, and some more people and they'll take care of you! The food was amazing! Really, really good! We ate there for breakfast once, three days in a row for lunch and one time for dinner, everything was good! I ordered the meat and shrimp hamburger 3 different times, and it was unbelievable amazing! We tried agua chile which is like a ceviche but better, we had Pastor Pizza really good, and we had breakfast too. The beverages were delicious! I had a special Mezcal with Jamaica flower on the rocks! some Margaritas on all of my other visits. I highly recommend this place, you can either sit at the regular tables, at the bar on a swing and/or at the beach 🏖️! They also tables and chairs, as well as lounge chairs and hammocks and you can be served right there too. I hope my review may help you plan a trip to Mahahual / Costa Maya..
