Pulqueria La Ofrenda en Oaxaca de Juárez

26/01/2024: This spot is a hidden gem. Chef Isau is a very talented creative Chef. This food is so So good we ate there twice during our week long trip. I would have eaten there even more but they are closed on Sunday and Monday. Ask the chef what he is making for the "Menu del Dia" and he will tell you the couple of items that he is cooking for lunch that day. Day one we had a lovely tasty lightly dressed green salad with fresh chopped apple and puffed Millet, main dish was a delicious pork stew in a mild red chili sauce. Second visit we had another lovely light salad (asian style homemede dressing) the second course was a light tasty veggie filled broth, third course was a choice of a chicken veggie stew or pork rib stew with a lovely mild tomatillo and chili sauce with cactus flower buds. It came with some delicious mashed black beans and 'totopos" (crunchy corn chips) it was so so good! Then Chef sent out a delightful lime sorbet. we washed the meal down with freshly blended pineapple refresco (unsweeted-sugar offered on the side) and hubby had a fresh limeade. Day one I tried a cucumber lime water which was very refreshing. This chef is a master of flavor and his foods are simply delightful. Not heavy, very delicious and well balanced. Truly a hidden gem. Its tucked away in a little alley near a weaving shop and y near to Ancestral Restaurant. This little cafe is a peaceful cool Oasis set in a tranquil shady courtyard filled with plants and a gentle flowing fountain. If entrance is closed off with a rope the place in NOT CLOSED, just give a call out and enter. They offer breakfast as well as a lunch and refreshments menu. You need to ask Chef about what he's making that day for lunch as its not listed. They are open until 6pm. They close on Sundays and Mondays. I highly reccommend!!!!
