La Nacional, México en Monterrey

La Nacional just became my new favorite restaurant in Monterrey. Great value. Unlike other restaurants in the city it does not have mercenary prices. The standout dish was the picana steak. It was perfectly cooked to a juicy medium with outstanding flavor and tender texture. The side fries were also executed well, with a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. However, the true star of the meal was the roasted habanero and pumpkin seed sauce served with the steak. It had an addictive balance of smoky, spicy and nutty flavors that I couldn't get enough of. Another tasty component was the attentive service, although it remains to be seen if it will stay at the same level on busier nights. The one real disappointment was the fideo taco, which was overly seasoned with cumin. The desert menu is límited to flan and carrot cake which is somewhat disappointing. Great bar tending however. The shaken carajillo with both Licor 43 and baileys is a must. Overall, I had a phenomenal meal at La Nacional.

Muy buena calidad de su carne. La alcachofa un must, al igual que el cheese cake. Recomendable el lugar.
