We stumbled across Il Tomato on a Friday afternoon while exploring the Juarez neighborhood. It is a quaint neighborhood restaurant along tree-lined streets. The roasted cauliflower and french fries were delicious - definitely give them a try! The owner, Maya, and her family and friends were also there, and gave us some mezcal to try and explained HOW to drink and ENJOY the flavors, which was a special treat. A quick stop turned into 4 hours of relaxing conversation and Maya giving us tips on other restaurants across the city to try. She even recommended that we stop at a new hip restaurant called Palapa for live music, and her friend called in a favor to get us "on the list". Il Tomato was a lovely and unexpected gem in the city - go visit them!
