D’Italia Casitas, México en Benito Juárez

We never had a less than wonderful dinner in any of the restaurants at El Dorado Casitas Royale. But, I want to give special attention to D'Italia Casitas. We went to dinner here one night and had a wonderful waiter named Felix. Our dinner was both beautifully presented, and so delicious. While there we noticed that there was a table in the kitchen area and Felix told us that a private Chefs Table could be booked there, and so we decided to do that on our last night. OH MY GOSH....... The entire experience was AMAZING! From the moment that we arrived, and were greeted by Karen and Tanya, to the moment we left, the service was beyond exceptional. This is a six course dinner with wines specially paired to each course. Our waiter was Edmar and he was charming, professional, welcoming, funny.... too many adjectives are needed to describe Edmar. The manager, Daniela, came to tell us about each wine, and to check on us. The sommelier, Ricardo, gave us the history and composition of each wine, all of which were fantastic. But the chef, Julio, was simply brilliant. He presented a first course of a beautiful barely seared fresh tuna with a spring salad. The second course was a perfectly grilled lobster tail on fresh pasta with squid ink. There was a watermelon sorbet palate cleanser. The main course was pork tenderloin in the most flavorful mole sauce that I have ever had. I could happily have eaten just a bowl of that delicious sauce! Dessert was totally a WOW!!! Chef Julio prepared, in front of us, an ice cream using liquid nitrogen - simply off the chart!! It was served with fresh berries. We wanted a special evening to end our perfect stay at the resort, and D'Italia Casitas delivered on every single note. We cannot thank them all enough for our wonderful evenings with them.

This is a wonderful intimate restaurant with great food and a fantastic service. Our waiter was very attentive but never interfered with conversations. The only short coming of the restaurant is that the air conditioning was out and the restaurant was very warm. We were all sweating by the end of the meal and taking breaks to go to the restroom to stand in the air conditioning. The waiter was having to wipe down the table every few minutes because of the condensation on our cold drinks. If the A/C had been working it would have been a perfect night.
