I had the best experience at Ja’o! Ricardo was an amazing waiter, making wonderful suggestions, and Irvin was a great hostess. They all made my birthday dinner very memorable. Love the atmosphere and vibe. We’ve come many times and Ja’o is always our top spot to eat when we come to Waldorf. The chips and guac are full of flavor and unique to this restaurant. You can’t go wrong with anything the menu and the staff is so friendly and attentive to everything. Highly recommend coming and trying it all!

An unforgettable dining experience at JAO’s in the Waldorf Cancun! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. Our server, Jeff Alejandro, was attentive and knowledgeable, making our evening truly special with his warm service and thoughtful recommendations. The bartender also crafted personalized cocktails tailored to both the menu and our personal tastes, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the night. We booked the 7 course tapas tasting menu featuring Yucatán indigenous cuisine, which was nothing short of fabulous. Each dish brought out the rich, unique flavors of the region, but the star for us was the Crab Stew—such a wonderful blend of flavors that you can only experience in this part of the world. A must-visit for anyone looking to explore authentic and vibrant local cuisine. Can’t wait to come back!

The staff (especially our waiter Francisco) were very nice and always helpful. Our waiter gave great food recommendations and answered every question very well. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed and the food was very good.

We had a great night with incredible service and delicious food. I had the best and most amazing Parmesan Risotto. They were all super attentive to every aspect and detail. Belinda even offered me a scarf to wear because I had a sleeveless dress and just in case I was feeling cold. Those treatments are very appreciated and very rare. Lots of attention to detail.

Delicious food and excellent service! We were staying at the Waldorf for the end of our honeymoon and this dinner was a great way to end our trip. Irvin gave us some great recommendations and provided great service during our dinner

Never have I had a more pleasant meal. Alejandro was so polite and helpful, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Meal was amazing, we had their seasonal traditional dish called Chiles En Nogada. It was an explosion of great flavors in our taste buds. We also had the Wagyu Steak and Shrimp Ceviche in which the steak was cooked to perfection and the Ceviche was very tasty. We definitely recommend this place to anyone staying at Waldorf Astoria Cancun. And to top it off, we were gifted Sangrias by the wonderful staff courtesy of our amazing front desk check in registration host Alberto. Thank you Alberto and Alejandro and the rest of the staff for this wonderful experience. Muchas Gracias 🙏🏻

It was an amazing diner full of beautiful Mexican traditions, starting from music and ending with local traditional drink . Thank you Ricardo for this wonderful experience; he was like a good old friend to guide you through this experience.

The ambiance of this restaurant is incredible. The cozy atmosphere, soft lighting and real Mexican vibe creates a perfect setting for any special occasion. Culinary kudos to the chef and the mixologist. A reservation is handy but may not have been necessary on the Friday evening we decided to dine. There were celebrations all around us including a couple birthdays and an anniversary. This is a fine restaurant but much more than that. Ja'o not only provides the freshest of local delicious delicacies, but it is also an entertainment destination. Friday night entertainment included a genuine mariachi band. Three lovely ladies in beautiful red charro dresses sang fun, uplifting traditional songs. Our waiter, Irving was instantly likeable. Irving took the time to explain the menu options. His suggestion to me was a true hit. I had the Chiles En Nogada, a traditional meal only served during the months of August and September. This dish of poblana chiles stuffed with shredded meat, fruits and spices and topped with a cream sauce called nogada. My girlfriend commented, the barbacoa was the best she had ever had. Our mixologist, Jefferson was easily a new friend. Jefferson creating a masterpiece drink from local tequila is a visual presentation that adds to the overall appeal of Ja'o. I will highly recommend Ja'o to all friends and family. A stay at the Waldorf Astoria Cancun would not be complete without experiencing a wonderful meal at Ja'o

Francisco was our waiter and he was amazing his sense of humor was one of a kind and he was very inviting and welcoming as well as the kitchen serving out food super fast and delicious!

Awesome place for a casual dinner. Fransisco was our server and he was so knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks were fantastic and the gentleman running the bar knew his drinks! Every item we tried was absolutely amazing and we look forward to going back. They even had a live mariachi band, which was absolutely amazing!

The service at Ja’o was one of a kind. Our server, Ivan and the manager on duty were very attentive and helpful. They offered us a new choice of dessert because we a fan of the one we chose. Ivan was a lot of fun, and he made us feel like family. The guacamole and chips were divine, it’s my favorite dish! The chips were fresh and had a hint of flavor that left your mouth craving for more! The bone marrow was also amazing! It was served with tortilla, which was interesting to me, but it worked out well as a “taco”- super flavorful and delish! The red velvet churros was a family favorite. We ordered 2 servings. The ambiance and atmosphere at Ja’o is truly amazing.

Great service from Laura, Frank and Ricardo. The fajitas are great and the desserts definitely worth a try! We were at the hotel for 2 weeks and ate here 5 or 6 times each time the service and food were great.

I don’t do a lot of reviews, but this dinner was probably one of the best experiences I’ve had on any of my travels here lately, so I feel compelled to leave one. Laura the hostess was so sweet and kind to make sure I had the best seat in the house. Alejandro was my server, so attentive and offered some wonderful selections! My dinner was Tylayuda con langosta and a passionfruit margarita—and I took my time savoring every bite and sip! The classiest mariachi band: Alvin, Carin & Luis played and sang at my tableside, creating an ambience and experience only in my dreams. As if this wasn’t enough, Alejandro brought another performance to the table: a flaming coffee! A local Mayan liquor—D’aristi Xtabentún —wow, a highlight for me!! Who knew coffee could encompass a history lesson, an exciting performance AND a decadent nightcap, all at once! If you truly want to be treated special and enjoy the savory flavors of Mexico, this is your spot! Look no further. Muchas gracias Ja’o por una experiencia tan maravillosa 🙏

Wonderful restaurant! Francisco, our waiter, was delightful and efficient! The churros were to die for! Try the tacos- each kind was unique and flavorful! The guacamole and chips kept us coming back for more! The whole family loved it!

Ja’o was such a good place to go to on vacation! The food is unlike any other I have tried. The barboqoa tacos were a favorite, along with the guacamole and chips! I really enjoyed the mushroom tacos as they had a unique flavor and made me want more! The staff was very friendly and welcoming and very accommodating and polite. Would highly recommend!

We had dinner here and the food was amazing. Our server Frank explained all the dishes we ordered and provided us with the name of some local ingredients they use in the dishes. The restaurant is located within the Waldorf Astoria, which is a beautiful property. I highly recommend the restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience. Our waiter helped by guiding us with recommendations. This was so much appreciated since we are not familiar with the menu. The four of us were attended by Francisco, and we are thankful for his service. The food was tasty and well presented. We will definitely return to, and recommend this restaurant.

Casual yet soohisticated restaurant offering extensive Mexican cuisine. This is matched with a sports bar atmosphere to allow viewing of our favorite football matches. Especially we would like to compliment our server, Francisco, for exceptional attention to detail and great sense of humor. Highly recommend

Excellent food and service at Jao! We ate at Jao twice during our stay. The nopales salad and fish tacos were SO good—the combinations of flavors are delightful. The tres leches cake is not to be missed. Frank was an outstanding server, always happy to make a recommendation or tell a good story. He was our server on both occasions and was very attentive.

Great spot to savor some local cuisine. Open air restaurant set up Mexican style canteen. Loved the small bites and a variety of agave spirits. Very pleasant atmosphere . On vacation why not. Don't have to drive so splurged on

My wife, daughter & I went to dinner on Thursday while on vacation in Cancun. We heard great reviews about Ja’o, but wanted to experience for ourselves. The food was outstanding and the service from Francisco was even better. We had fish tacos and pork belly tacos also , both were excellent!! Had wonderful suggestions from Francisco and great conversation as well. Original decor along with great ambiance made the evening a delight. All around a top notch experience!!
