31/07/2024: The Restaurant used to be fabulous and a reliable choice for a good meal. NO LONGER the case. We don't know what has happened since we last ate there about 9 months ago. But it has sadly gone DOWNHILL. We went for lunch recently. Ordered 4 dishes. 3 were underwhelming (the shrimp cakes were odd), and the beet salad was simply inedible: a wilted bowl of mainly lettuce (with some small pieces of beet) drenched in vinegar. The service was very unattentive - even though it was practically empty. We waited 20 minutes for bread. Our cocktails came even later, after the bread arrived. We are not picky people. But we expected a lot more from The Restaurant. Perhaps it was an off day (but it was a Saturday which should not be an off day). It seems to be past its prime.

22/06/2024: Donnie Masterson's The Restaurant, which started the food revolution in SMA 16 years ago, never, ever disappoints. Beautifully designed, great music, excellent food - Thursday burger night is our favorite, but there is never a bad night to dine there. Collier had a lamb burger, I had the salmon burger, Sandy had the Mafioso, & Rhoda the In&Out - everybody was verrrry happy 😋 The Restaurant de Donnie Masterson, que inició la revolución gastronómica en SMA hace 16 años, nunca decepciona. Bellamente diseñado, buena música, excelente comida: la noche de hamburguesas del jueves es nuestra favorita, pero nunca hay una mala noche para cenar allí. Collier comió una hamburguesa de cordero, yo comí una hamburguesa de salmón, Sandy comió el Mafioso y Rhoda el In&Out; todos estaban muy felices.

11/08/2024: Gran lugar para desayunar cerca del jardín. Regresé dos veces. La primera vez comí tostada de aguacate y el segundo día comí un plato de huevo con salsa verde que estaba delicioso. Tienen un excelente café. También vimos a alguien traer a su perro.

03/08/2024: Comida muy mediocre. La ensalada era simplemente lechuga con un aderezo muy básico. El servicio fue normal. La selección de vinos era mínima y cara. No puedo recomendarlo.

02/09/2024: El local NO TIENE CARTA DE ALERGENOS, con lo cual, yo con APLV, no pude estar segura de lo que comía, me dejé aconsejar por el camarero. No tuve muchas opciones para elegir, ya que me dijo que no comiera ni rebozados ni cosas con salsas y prácticamente todo tenia esto, solo se salvaba el arroz y la carne a la brasa, porque opciones al horno tampoco había muchas. Sería ideal que tuvieran carta de alérgenos para las próximas veces, sobre todo por la seguridad de los consumidores pero también porque es obligatorio por sanidad tenerla.

10/08/2024: Overpriced for so so main courses. Although I will say the appetizers were good. My gin and tonic was a little light on the gin.

21/07/2024: We were very disappointed with our experience in many ways. First they offer a fixed priced menu that the waiter was trying hard to convince us to try. During his LONG explanation of this option I could see two other waiters watching him trying to convince us. They started to laugh at him for failure to convence us . We order from Borge the Moxi and Mui menu. The pork gyozas were strange in presentation but on in flavor. The cauliflower was ok as well but the sauce was bland. Two of us ordered the red snapper portion size I was large but for $800.00 pesos you would think it would be. Its presentation on the dish was boring as if an amateur did it. The fish was moist but the sauce was boring. Two others ordered the sea bass and that was probably the best dish. The sauce was good. We ordered all 3 desserts, the chocolate dessert was ok, the cheese dessert was horrible (we left it on the table), the fried pineapple was the best. Overall, way over priced.
