04/02/2024: Sometimes it can be hard to find vegan restaurants and I’m so grateful that I found this place first of all, it’s like a magical oasis when you walk in lots of poems from rumi Renton all over the walls, and the owner is amazing. I came here every night to eat, because the food was so delicious. Very clean Great Staff By far my favorite spot to come to

13/02/2024: Today my husband, my friend and her husband and I experienced the worst racism ever during our vacation club tour. I am still in utterly disbelief 🫢
It’s so unfortunate that you have evil people in this world. Our tour guide Xavier was amazing!!! The resort is breathtaking!! However, Denny the closeout sales person has some serious people skills issues that definitely needs to be stopped,
Story:
We decided not to purchase the vacation package due to financial obligations. Xavier went to get Denny, Denny went over the spill again and had Xavier to adjust the price. We still declined. Denny evidently didn’t like our decision, so he decided to tell us a joke. He stated that he saw a joke on social media, (Denny appeared to be a white man) Joke/ Denny said a white man and a dog had a conversation the white man said to the dog you’re family or bloodline is from the wolves and the dog was happy about it and the dog said to the man where is your bloodline from the monkey! He laugh and we all looked in disbelief, like what! Xavier said I don’t get it. Well we got it! 3 of us are proud African Americans and the other is Native American.
My friend stated we are not monkeys. Denny walked away! Xavier apologized. My husband talked to Xavier. My husband requested his supervisor. Supervisor came apologized for Dennys behavior. Gave us a voucher for a week vacation. This gesture was a slap in the face compared to racism we had just experienced.
This has to stop!! We are all Gods people! We all are created equal! Denny being prejudice is definitely in the wrong field, I pray that he never has the opportunity to offend anyone else. It got worse, our feelings what I felt were dismissed instantly by Xavier and his boss because after the incident, we were handed of to another sales rep who offered us another deal on buying the vacation package. Unreal! We would never want to stay anywhere where we are not wanted or respected. If I could offer no stars I would!! This incident definitely left a bad taste in our mouth. Very disappointed ☹️
21/01/2024: We had a wonderful stay here and spent everyday at the adult pool, which was nice not having children running around. The best part of our stay was our server Ranulfo, who we had as our server every morning in the Sports Bar. He was so kind, pleasant, and took very good care of us! He was our favorite server out of everyone at this hotel, and made our stay enjoyable! I hope the owner or general manager of the hotel will give him the recognition he deserves for his outstanding service! He is a great asset to this hotel!

Pitahayas

23/11/2023: This place used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Cabo....always had great service, a terrific menu and exquisite food. Unfortunately all three have dropped significantly --- particularly the service. Primarily this has to do with the management -- a fellow named Miguel who is an absolute detriment and will destroy this places fine reputation. He is a complete and absolute jerk. We had reservations for the night before and had to change to the next night, we called the restaurant 3 times and it rang 20 times each time with no answer - couldnt We decided to head over and just get taken care of. When we arrived and explained what had happened we were told there were no tables available. I could visibly see that there were 5 empty tables sitting there as the hostess (same one I had tiped the night before to get the reservation) spoke which I pointed out to her. I asked to speak to the manager --over came Miguel who told me that they always answer the phone (which is a complete lie) and that they had no tables available. I poited at the 5 empty ones and he said they had all been reserved. He suggested I go to the bar and wait there and if a table opened up he would come get me. It was OBVIOUS that he had no such intention - Miguel is a liar. We ordered food at the bar and ate from the dinner menu there We sat there for an hour and 20 minutes and when we were done, not only were the original 5 tables still unoccupied.... there were now 10 empty tables but Miguel never made the effort to seat us. Before I left I made sure thta. he knew that he didnt honor his word to seat us and that I was very disappointed in his abysmal service, Not only. is he costing the restaraunt business and income but he is disenfranchising good customer. AWFUL SERVICE AND TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT. I would suggest you give this place a pass; there are lots of great restaurants in the area that take pride in delighting patrons - this is no longer one of them.
30/10/2023: Update October 27, 2023
Staying at Hacienda Del Mar again this Fall, here for a "birthday week" and had dinner at Pitahayas this evening. Despite enduring Hurricane Norma only 6 days ago, the restaurant was up to speed this evening. Service was good, attentive, but not intrusive, and the pace of the meal was good. The "almost" full moon helped to set the atmosphere for the evening!
We started by ordering a Grenache Blanc from the Malagon Vineyard in Guadalupe, Mexico ("when in Rome...") which was actually very good. The only issue with the wine was the temperature when brought to the table... cool, but not chilled, as one would expect from a well-run cellar. Could have been weather related, but it's an issue we've encountered before. A bucket of ice solved that issue after about 30 minutes...
Along with the wine, the first deliveries to the table were an amuse bouche of watermelon, sprinkled with feta cheese, which was quite delicious. At the same time, the bread board arrived with a steaming hot loaf of sourdough bread with a side of cheese/olive oil and "burnt onions." The burnt onions are "a thing" at Pitahayas. A bit unconventional, but we see it as cutting edge... burn the onions in the oven, let them cool, and then turn them into powder. Very creative IMHO and a delicious (and unusual) accent to include in a dish.
PS the burnt onions show up in other dishes as well, and always add a flavor note that is delicious!
For starters on the menu, we ordered the crispy shrimp, which is a favorite of many visitors to the restaurant. Lightly battered and fried to perfection. Detracting from the shrimp was the peanut-sauce concoction under the shrimp and the accompanying sauce. The shrimp was delicious but needed a better pairing.
Next up, a berry sorbet palate cleanser ... very good indeed, and provided a wonderful bridge to the entrees to follow...
Entrees this evening were creamy rice with lobster tail and the blackened fisherman's catch of the day... both were very good, but we agreed the blackened fish was the star of the evening. The creamy rice was much like a risotto, with veggies, and the lobster tail was a decent size and fresh. Very good!
The blackened fish was "Mexican seabass" (in the grouper family), The seasoning was perfect, very tasty spices with a little heat! The best surprise is what we believe was squid-ink rice under the fish, we'll have to circle back with the chef on that... it was great! The veggies on the plate were room temperature, likely not freshly cooked when the fish was prepared. There are only so many hands in the kitchen.
A very nice touch from the restaurant was a complimentary birthday dessert served with a flaming, sparkling firework on top, and serenaded by the staff singing happy b-day. A small chocolate ganache cake with blueberries and meringue drops... a very nice touch...
All in all, a very good meal, with a few misses as noted in this review. Pitahayas is worth a visit if you're in the Cabo area!

09/02/2024: 5 star location
3 star room
1 star for the mouldy smelly fridge.
Other than the fridge it was well worth the money. The shower flooded everywhere no matter what you tried. The room was spacious for the money. But that fridge (shivers).....
