Finca Serrano, México en Zacatecas

I had researched restaurants in Zacatecas prior to my arrival. One name kept coming up - Finca Serrano. This is an intimate, elegant restaurant with white tablecloths, well-trained waiters in starched white shirts, artwork on the walls, large crystal chandeliers hung from the wood beamed ceiling and a view of lush 'Alameda García de la Cadena' across the street. A restaurant of this type might otherwise be found in the upscale Polanco district of Mexico City. Arriving at 10:15 a.m. I was seated in the front dining room at a table next to windows overlooking the Alameda. It’s a bright room in the morning. Several other tables were occupied, one with a couple who were later joined for a birthday celebration. In an adjacent room, a group of maybe 20 started to gather to celebrate the birthday of an elder relative who joined them just as I finished my meal. This is an intimate environment. For breakfast I ordered ‘Enchiladas don Rubén’. Corn tortillas rolled and filled with shredded chicken with salsa ‘pico de gallo, bathed in ‘salsa de chile guajillo’ and topped with crumbled cheese (“granitadas”). The enchiladas were topped with a mound of finely shredded lettuce, some cilantro and half an avocado sliced. In addition to the enchiladas I ordered a small plate of fresh fruit, a glass of ‘jugo de naranja’ (orange juice) and ‘Té de Manzanilla’ (similar to but not exactly the same as Chamomile). This was not a spicy meal. The salsa was mild and the perfect accompaniment to the enchiladas. I enjoyed ‘people watching’ as the restaurant began to fill after 10:30 (one table with a several well-behaved children), and the view of the décor and the Alameda through the windows was pleasant. Waitstaff was excellent; not just the waiter but other service personnel. Breakfast at the restaurant is known for the croissants with chocolate woven through. I was tempted to try one, but what I had ordered was more than enough. At meals end, the check arrives in a small wooden box with a piece of chocolate and a hard candy. My home country is the USA, and for those of us spending US$ breakfast in a restaurant of this caliber was inexpensive: MX$240 (before gratuity) = US$14.50. The only picky thing I will mention is: waiters with starched shirts, starched table cloths … but paper napkins? If ever you find yourself in Zacatecas, do not pass up the opportunity to take a meal at Finca Serrano at least once!

Porciones abundantes buen sabor y muy buen servicio además de que es un lugar lindo y bastante cómodo.

En esta ocasión probé las enchicharronadas y noooo, qué cosa más rica! de verdad fue todo un acierto dle mesero en recomendarlas :)

Lugar íntimo, y agradable, con buen servicio y los platillos suculentos.

Un lugar muy bien ubicado, con ventanales grandes que te dan una vista muy linda al parque. Atención rápida y amable. Mesas bonitas y las paredes llenas de cuadros.

Excelente atención, te llevas un buen sabor de boca.

Jugó carrillero buen sabor y sazón…

Una muy buena variedad de chilaquiles, bien cuidados los sabores y la presentación de los platos. La atención del personal es siempre buena

La realidad es que se come delicioso, variedad de platillos mexicanos y un buen precio, ideal por si vienes de turista está céntrico, cerca de la mina, los platillos muy bien servidos, si vienes con hambre mejor!
