We just found it on the internet an hour before going. Arrived, it was packed. Over packed. Mostly tables of 6-20 people. More people waiting on the curb for tables. Went to the host and asked for a table for two. No problema! He brought us to the only open table in the house. Wine arrived within about 10 minutes (somewhat overpriced local wine). Food and service were great, some of the best octupus ever. Tuna melted in the mouth. Looking forward to going back.

Overall an excellent experience at Contramar. It was very attentive and quick service, even while rather busy. We had to make the reservation a couple days in advance for lunch. The menu was quite large so we asked for recommendations; and everything was absolutely delicious. It was our best sit down meal in Mexico City by far and well worth it

The food here was very good, but didn’t quite live up to the hype - definitely had better in the city elsewhere. It’s also a shame that it closes so early and it does feel like they’re rushing you to leave

Food was nice but the service was way too pushy, they were all trying to sell us more food and alcohol than we wanted, they were really forcing our hand and arguing with us about how much food we wanted to eat. The server even gave himself more tip than we told him to. Definately not worth all the hype.

Incredible food! Tuna tostadas were sublime, shrimp ceviche was phenomenal (the texture of the shrimps was insane), and probably the best fish I have ever had (and I am from the Mediterranean, I've had a lot of great fish). They were very quick at refilling our water and tortillas as well. We did, however, feel pressured to order drinks (we don't drink) and to leave a larger tip (It seemed like this was the only place in Mexico City where they considered anything less than 20% to be a poor tip? Everywhere else 15% seemed to be perfectly fine). Overall, the food lives up to the hype and was excellent and service was great and very quick so I definitely recommend this place
Buen lugar para deleitarse con comida del mar. Excelente sabor y su pescado a la talla riquísimo. Si no tienes reservación, tendrás qué esperar mucho o te darán el peor lugar. Fuera de eso es un lugar recomendable.

I was here before and was looking forward to eating here again- and the quality is still top. They have top seafood. Their tuna tostada is the all time runner, most people have this dish, and it is really outstanding. The whole fish with two kind of sauces is also very good. And the pavlova as dessert is to die for. Service is efficient and friendly.
So definitely recommended to for a great seafood lunch.
